The needs of people affected by a major emergency must be the focus of any emergency response. The support provided in the immediate aftermath of a major emergency can significantly influence how people cope with the consequences and how quickly a community can recover or establish a new normality. The support required will range from the provision of immediate comfort and practical help, through to longer term psychological support.
Crisis Support UK (CS-UK) exists as a partnership between the public, private and voluntary sectors, across Dudley, Shropshire, Telford & Worcestershire, pulling together and sharing a broad range of skills and experience. CS-UK provides a network of Crisis Support Officers who have received a comprehensive, consistent, and validated standard of training from multiagency partners to work on a 1-2-1 basis with Police Family Liaison Officers and those most affected by a major emergency.
No single organisation has sufficient resources to readily cope with the human aspects of a major emergency and therefore a multi-agency approach, drawing on a wide skills base, across a broader geographical area is favourable. The following organisations are partners of CS-UK:
Please be advised that the CS-UK does not provide a day-to-day service, it is only deployed by the emergency services in the event of a large scale major emergency. At present CS-UK is not activated and as such is unable to offer 1-2-1 support at this time.
However, if you have been affected by an emergency or personal crisis, and are looking for some support now, there are a range of organisations ready to help.
If your needs are of an urgent personal nature, the Samaritans operate a 24 hour telephone helpline, and will support you through this distressing experience:
